Big Questions About Nneka Elliott Answered

November 4, 2016

Filming my first Q&A video was quite the process. First of all it’s the first video I filmed alone.  Yes I film my Nneka Learns videos but at least I have a subject to help with focus and framing. I didn’t have that luxury and unfortunately Remy my dog isn’t tall enough to be my stand in. Once she reads this I know my neighbour Cory Lee is gonna be like “Bish why didn’t you just call me?!” I just wanted to try it. Plus I was afraid I wouldn’t be as revealing if someone else was present.

I was inspired by the amazing Shameless Maya to use seamless paper as a backdrop she made using painter’s tape look so damn easy. But it was not!! I need to get a stand to throw the paper over. So that took ten years. Plus it was a windy day and the paper kept attempting to fall. So I closed all windows and doors, but then Remy was getting hot and kept asking to go out. Stewps. I’m also still learning about how to show things on camera so that people can actually see the bloody thing lol! Pure jokes!

So in regard to the topics covered in the video I wanted to clarify a few things. I’m used to being live always so I did the whole video in one take. It also helps with editing. But because I did that I left out a few things. Firstly I only mentioned my face in regard to my skincare routine. For my body, I use Nature’s Gate lotion, Now Solutions Castor oil, natural soap from The Guelph Soap co. and The Healthy deodorant in vanilla. What I meant to say in the video is that I’ve already transitioned to all natural products for my body but not yet for my face. Also I have not been paid in any way to mention any of the products. (At least not yet 🙂 )

Also I’m eager to hear your thoughts on accents in broadcasting. Can you have a foreign accent and be a successful news reporter/anchor in Canada? I’m talking news specifically. Do you know anyone? I can only think of one person. Does gender matter? And if so are all accents created equal. Which ones are deemed or portrayed to be more authoritative or credible?  Let me know in the comments section below.

I’m hoping to do more of these videos. The next one will probably be live. Stay tuned!
