I first learned about Free-them after covering one of their events when I was still at CP24. I was really taken aback to hear about the atrocities happening in Canada and around the world.  There are something like 29.8 million people in slavery today as a result of human trafficking. I was a weather broadcaster for many years so I’m very much aware of the sun’s strength, UV index and all of that. Saying “slather on that sunscreen” was a regular part of the weather vernacular. Even though I always wear sunscreen (albeit not enough in the winter) I have a love hate relationship with it. For two reasons. I hate the mousey, grey skin look that I get after using most sunscreens. Black and brown toned people know what I’m talking about. I’m not trying to look like a jumbie!  Also I always hesitate putting sunscreen on my face for fear of having a break-out.
