Shea Moisture Pop-Up Highlights

August 18, 2019

Shea Moisture recently hosted their first ever pop-up in Canada. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen before in Toronto.

It was a four day pop up celebrating all things hair. It explored topics like beauty, wellness and culture as it relates to hair. The theme of the pop up was Be Your Beautiful. It also coincided with Toronto Caribbean Carnival and as a result had lots of island flavour. I had the honour of contributing to a panel and hosting the VIP launch event.

Here are some photos from the launch at the hair identity panel and workshop presented by Karlyn Percil’s Amplifyher2020.

"We often hide our shame stories and keep them buried deep within us, we silently carry the burden of unworthiness, day after day, year after year, because this is how shame thrives. It becomes our normal, always feeling ashamed and focused on hiding any glimpse of the stories that have shaped us. We get used to the weight and limitation of shame and we mistake it for comfort. We feel safe with our restrictions and low expectations." – #brenebrown . _________ Last week we dived into the stories + science of our HAIRStory and it's impact on how we see ourselves (Identify) success and belonging in the workplace.
