WHAT I BRING TO THE COTTAGE

bring to the cottage

Just back from two restful nights up at our favourite long weekend spot Viamede Resort. Victor and I shared a cottage with two of our favorite people Karlyn and Jason Merceica. In Canada the Victoria Day Long weekend is the unofficial kick off to summer…and cottage season. Thought I’d share with you what I typically bring to the cottage and show you what we got up to this weekend.

So as you may have read here on my blog that Viamede is a full-service resort with 50 guest rooms and rustic pet-friendly cottages with really stunning lake views. We don’t own a cottage, but every time we go it feels like our own spot with the real cottage experience. It was no exception this time around. When we visit we bring food to barbecue, drinks and the cottage comes with towels, linens, utensils, plates etc.

But here are a few of my other must haves:

My favourite libations lol:

I love my Bailey’s. ( I think a lot of Caribbean women would agree.) Yes we drink beer and wine at the cottage, but I also like to bring something a little creamy. I don’t drink dairy, so I’m all about Bailey’s Almande…with lots of ice please!

My Camera:

Not my big DSLR, but my handy Canon Powershot. It’s my vlogging camera (I’d argue the best on the market), but I also use it for pictures. (We took the pics below with it.) It’s compact, durable and it literally takes a minute to upload pictures to my phone, so I can easily share later on my socials. The moments we capture every year on Stony Lake at Viamede mean so much to me.

Thermal Spring Water Spray:

It was actually pretty hot while we were at Viamede (praise the lord) I posted videos on Instagram showing us playing soccer and spending a lot of time outdoors. We weren’t in the actual cottage too much actually. So in addition to water (and my Bailey’s) I also kept some Avene thermal water spray close. Didn’t think I would be in to this stuff. But try it, it’s nice to give your face a little zhush. It’s like a small cool blast to help soothe and freshen after you’ve been outside for a while.

Lip Balm:

I don’t wear makeup at the cottage but I like lots of lip balm. My current fave is from Po Derma (Canadian company.) I can’t stop rubbing my lips together when I wear it. It’s still pretty new for me, but so far so great. The main ingredients are Hemp seed oil, Grape seed oil and Pomegranate, plus it has UV protection…and I can’t get enough of the smell.

Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner:

If you follow me on Instagram I recently started rocking some curly tresses (Burmese curly from Miss Inchez btw) I’m obsessed with keeping them moisturized and tangle free. To revive the curls, I spritz with a water/ leave-in conditioner combo. Takes 30 seconds. I’ve been using a bunch of different conditioners. But I took the Shea Moisture extra moisture detangler to the cottage. ( That way even if I missed a shower I still smelled good!) I’m joking, I’m joking ok!

So anyway that’s a little snap shot of what I typically take with me. Add to that list some comfy sweats and shades and I’m good, thank you very much!
