I’ve been on the hunt for Caribbean designers…there are so many based in the islands, not as much locally here in Toronto. So I was overjoyed to discover Omi Woods.
Owner and creative director Ashley Alexis McFarlane is of Jamaican descent. As a matter of a fact the name “Omi Woods” refers to the Arawak word for Jamaica (Xaymaca) which means The Land of wood and water.
The brand prides itself on classic silhouettes, cultured prints and ethical practices. Their pieces are stunning! And what I love even more is that Omi Woods uses biodegradable dyes and fabrics sourced from suppliers with sustainable policies in place.
I plan to feature more looks from Omi Woods in the coming months. Here’s one of my favourite items from their Spring/Summer collection…The Jackie dress. Let me know what you think in the comments section and be sure to watch my vlog below for more info on Omi Woods.
