I’m really enjoying all the recent opportunities to talk about the things that I’m passionate about. Namely beauty, fashion, self-employment & culture.

I did a segment last week on Global New’s The Morning Show. Had a chat with my friend Liem Vu about Toronto’s Hottest African & Caribbean Events to check out this summer. I only mentioned my top 4, but I give more details on each below, along with some other great events.

Barbados On The Water – July 7 &  8 at Harbourfront Centre

Celebrate Barbadian culture in Toronto with incredible food, music, fashion, literary events and children’s activities.
From a taste of the famous “Oistin’s Fish Fry” to the soca beats of Spice & Co. and rum tastings in the Tropical Relaxation Zone, this weekend-long fête offers something for everyone. Plus soca sensation Rupee and the Queen of soca Alison Hinds are headlining this year.

Afrofest – July 7 & 8 at Woodbine Park
Afrofest seeks to share the rich and diverse expressions of African music and culture in an inclusive, vibrant and positive community festival setting. It’s the largest free African music festival in North America. This is their 30th anniversary so you know it’s gonna be major!

Peeks Toronto Caribbean Carnival – July 8 – August 12 at Various Locations

This is the 51st year celebrating Caribbean culture in Toronto’s downtown core.
The official launch is on July 10th at Nathan Phillip Square. Click here for a full list of events.

Jerkfest – August 9 – August 12 at Centennial Park

Its a fusion of jerk food, pulsating music, family friendly entertainment and good vibes. So many great performers this year including:
Melanie Durrant, Fab 5, Chakademus & Pliers and Fantasia!
