When I left my news job there are many things that I realized I was missing out on. One of those things was spending quality time outside. Sure I reported outside but it wasn’t quite the same as actually being present and fully aware of my surroundings. Home, work, home, work…that was my life. Now that I work for myself I’ve committed to doing all the things I didn’t make time for or was too tired to do. As I’ve said many times, that’s what this blog is all about. I’ve always loved the way I feel after spending time outside. The renewed energy, the new ideas, the appreciation of life. This weekend I spent some time at an event that fosters and supports getting outside.
It’s called MEC Outdoor Nation’s Think Outside Summit and it was held this weekend at Ontario Place.
Over 50 participants pitched their outdoor businesses or ideas/projects (eg. Yoga on Tap, Camping with Strangers) to a panel of business experts to win funding – it’s kind of like Dragon’s Den for the outdoors. If YOU have an idea on how to get more people outside you can sign up HERE
I was at the think outside summit during the activities portion of the weekend. Tried my hand at a few things…operative word is tried :-). Check out my video and pictures below.
