Got to do my first bells & whistles photo shoot on Sunday! By bells & whistles I mean in a studio with, a stylist and hair and makeup. You might be surprised at that fact, having worked on TV for years. But contrary to what you believe working in news isn’t glamorous.
Don’t get me wrong some in the news biz got that opportunity. But I never did. It’s funny that it’s only since leaving my TV job that I’ve been able to do photo shoots and such. It’s all about creating your own opportunities people! Sunday’s photo shoot was for an upcoming project that you will hear more about towards the end of the month.
It’s not always easy for me to let go. I’m a micro manager. My mother will also tell you that from a very young age I always wanted to do everything myself. Never wanted help. I’m still like that, but I’m getting better.
A photo shoot of this kind is very much a team effort. It also requires a lot of trust. And I found just that in my team on Sunday. It was an effortless shoot, everyone was on the ball, we had a great rhythm going. Maybe it was the soca music we were blasting, but it just felt right.
