ABOUT NNEKA SHOW
‘NNEKA’ is a 6-8 minute weekly online lifestyle talk show for the Caribbean Diaspora. It’s hosted by award winning media personality
Nneka Elliott (CP24 news, Designated Survivor, Heroes Reborn) The show highlights fashion, beauty, food, culture etc, and the success stories of people of Caribbean descent. The show was born out of Nneka’s struggles with her cultural dual identity. She realized she could create
a show that could share the narrative of that collective experience globally to millions of Caribbean people.

Like many of you I’ve been on a hair journey. I’ve had relaxed hair for a long time, dealt with the usual breakage. I stopped relaxing fully and moved to a kind of texturizing (called wash and wear from Jazma) I then started wearing clip ins and weave and had some great hair growth. I’m now about 85% natural. So I’m always looking for natural hair products that can give me real curl definition and minimize frizz. Enter Up North Naturals!
Up North Naturals is a hair care brand for naturally curly hair. They believe all natural hair textures are beautiful and their products are all natural. I spoke to Up North Naturals founder Lisa Keizer about the company. She also gave me a tutorial on how to use the products on different curl patterns and answered lots of my natural hair questions. Thanks for watching!
SEASON 2| EPISODE 8:
To be honest, I never really realized the full scale of this issue until Chantal Carter Taylor brought it to my attention. The fact that women of colour have had to make do with beige lingerie. She said “Beige is not nude. It’s not my nude. Is it your nude?”
Fed up by the lack of available fashions, founder, stylist Chantal Carter Taylor, would actually hand dye bras and panties to match her skin tone! She decided to finally do something about it so that women of colour would be able to buy everyday products that match our skin tone. She started Love and Nudes: wire-free bras & panties designed to match your skin tone, be invisible under your clothing, and be so comfortable you could sleep in them.
