Fake Taco Now Available On Foodora

October 26, 2017

This week I met Aminah Haghighi founder of Fake Taco. She boldly left her cushy job at Foodora to go make vegan tacos. A move her family thought was crazy…a move I can so relate to.  I always want to support other women who take big risks to follow their dreams and passions. On Tuesday I helped celebrate the launch of Fake Taco.

Fake Taco is Toronto’s first plant-based taco that is now available for delivery exclusively via Foodora. And on Tuesday as part of the Good Food Tour by Foodora,  I was able to have the first bite. Myself and several other bloggers and influencers gathered for what felt like a family dinner prepared my mum…Aminah! This was the first installment of “The First Bite | The Chef Series.”

My buddy Lauren Toyota was there!

Refreshing Fix Fojitos from @thefixto

We snacked on Quatro Salsa (layers of fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, cashew sour cream and Michelles Raw Foodz “cheese” sauce.

Then we built our own Fake Taco. The ingredients available were Pulled Jackfruit (which as a Vincentian I kept wanting to call Breadfruit), homemade adobo and onion, Spanish onion, fresh pineapple and cilantro. It was all served on pink beet tortillas. Yum!

Ok mine didn’t look so appetizing. I’m not the best at building anything lol! But I really enjoyed it and I wasn’t even hungry when I got home.

We wrapped up taco Tuesday with an amazing chocolate pudding from Michelles Raw Foodz. Made from coconut milk powder, coconut palm sugar, cacao powder, cacao butter, maple sugar and vanilla extract. Needless to say I polished it off in a second 🙂

Seriously though, big up to Aminah for taking the leap and for her commitment to real food. (The name Fake Taco mainly comes from the incorrect belief that vegan food is not real food. Aminah is poking fun at that) Also respect to Foodora for taking a chance on a former employee and for coming to the rescue of people like me who appreciate plant-based food and want it on demand.

So if you live in Toronto make sure you support Aminah. You can order Fake tacos, taco party kits and all the tortilla chips you can eat, exclusively on Foodora. Would you try this? Let me know in the comments section below.
