On set "Designated Survivor"

I’m a happily married woman…4 years in June. But a couple of days ago I found myself in a situation where I needed to kiss another man. I wanted to share that story.

As I mentioned in my Facebook Live chat today. I’ve been super fortunate of late to land acting roles in some major TV shows & movies.  Since leaving my job the bulk of my income has come from acting, I also have good benefits because of the acting union I belong to (ACTRA) I am beyond blessed and grateful.

But I haven’t thought seriously enough about what kind of long term role acting will play in my life. I was forced to deal with some of those questions after an incident on Friday. I talk about it in my latest video.

Interesting video, Nneka. I agree with you that this is something that you’re going to have to think deeply about. Based on what you said in the beginning, it seems that acting is something you really want to do and in that light, I wouldn’t look at kissing as a big deal. As another person said, it’s part of the job so if you show that you aren’t willing to do things like that it may affect your prospects as it’s what is expected of a serious acting professional.

Of course, everyone has her or her limits so you’d have to figure out what yours are and balance them against the goals you want to achieve. But I suspect you know all that and I am confident that you’ll make a decision that works for you. Things like this only serve to put things in the right perspective. You know how much you want something but what you’re willing to do to achieve it!

    All the best! 🙂

Hi Nneka. Thanks for being so open and candid about your experience. It’s definitely food for thought. I think it’s just part of the process of growing and learning and figuring out what is meant for and is right for you. Just because this particular situation did not feel right, it does not mean there wont be lots of other opportunities out there that will be right for you. I like how you reflected on your spirituality as a guide to finding your way….life will continue to test and challenge you to choose as you grow into the person you were meant to be. Continue to follow your heart and choose what feels right to you….you can never go wrong that way.

Sometimes humans chase things that are worthless in the eyes of the lord. Scriptures says that a friend of the world is an enemy of Gods.
Your marriage is important in Gods eyes. You have a three way covenant with God. You, your husband and God. perhaps have a fill in do it but my suggestion would be to steer away from those things that can tarnish your soul. News anchor and reporter is a good position because it serves people with information and helps the community in certain ways given you are a honest, reputable and good reporter/host. Pray and ask for wisdom and put the lord first. That way he could direct your path. God bless. Wayne
