Gains

So I’ve been celebrating all the personal gains I’ve made on my journey of self discovery…what I haven’t mentioned are the gains I’ve accrued on my waistline!

It’s not a big deal and you may not see it, but I know it’s there. It’s just a little more uncomfortable to sit in my favourite jeans. My bras have a little more trouble hiding the fat bubbles on my back. My face is just a little more round.

I didn’t anticipate the weight gain. I underestimated just how active I was on a daily basis when I had a full time job. I don’t have a car so I walked a lot. As a reporter I was on my feet all the time. Now I spend most of time sitting on my ass working on my laptop. Yes I’m eating better…but I’m moving less. Literally… growing pains.

Right after my birthday, and in anticipation of my upcoming trip to St.Vincent, I decided I would commit to an amped up fitness plan. I was able to design a customised plan using my Nike+ Training Club (NTC) App. The first two weeks were glorious, I stuck to it. However, I didn’t account for the fact that my life isn’t as structured as it used to be. I began to fall off my new plan when I went out of town for a week to film a movie. It was hard for me to get back on track consistently after that.

So now that all the holiday dinners are done…we’ve scraped every morsel of leftover food from the Tupperwares and I’ve single handedly polished off that whole box of After Eight Chocolate…I can get back to it.

I’m back at it. You with me?
